ASTER

SEED | PLUG | LINER | URC | BARE ROOT

Today’s Asters vary from the traditional daisy forms to more modern pompom types (Azumi XL series) and chrysanthemum shapes (Optimo series). Asters can range in color from white to pale blues and purples. Their strong, straight stems branch into a spray of flowers perfect for floral arrangement. Asters can make a beautiful filler in a bouquet, especially with their classic yellow daisy center that complements a variety of bold blooms. It can also be a focal flower if grown as a disbud form with flowers up to 4 inches.

  • Asters prefer areas with cool, moist summers and cool nights in sites with full to partial sun.
  • Soil should be moist, but well-drained.
  • Supports are suggested for best results for straight stems.
  • Harvest Asters when blooms are just beginning to open.
