My Hot Take On Tissue Culture Limonium

In my newsletter today, I shared my thoughts on Tissue Culture (TC) Limonium / Statice, and why you shouldn't sleep on the chance to grow this crop.

  1. Tissue Culture Limonium is a very productive crop.
  2. TC plants are the Best of the Best.
  3. They're an exact clone of the parent plant.
  4. One TC Limonium plant can produce a bucket-full of cut stems.
  5. TC Limonium can produce a second flush of flowers.
  6. TC Limonium may be perennial when grown in high tunnels for winter protection.

TC Limonium usually needs to be ordered up to a year in advance so the TC material can be produced and grown on as liners for you to plant. Ball Seed has an opportunity to secure plants for shipping to you weeks 15 and 19. Liners are produced in 72 cell trays at Ball Tagawa in California.

Plants are priced in the $3.00-$4.00 range depending on the variety. Please note: Availability is not shown on WebTrack. Orders need to be placed ASAP for week 15 and 19 shipping. Contact your Ball Sales Rep for pricing, availability, and to place your order.

In the photo above, that is ONE PLANT of Limonium Sinzii Lilac in a high tunnel in California in August. Amazing! Check out our Limonium "Flowers By Stem" page to download technical sheets on how to grow these impressive plants. In TC options specifically, look for the Wings, Glacier and Sinzii series.
