Plugs

A plug is the young plant stage between a seed and a full-grown plant. Seeds are sown into trays by hand or machine. This seed-raised product comes in “plug trays” or “flats.” This term refers to trays of small plants or seedlings that are shipped to customers in boxes or cases. Plugs are often some of the smallest and most cost-efficient inputs. When a grower places an order with Ball Seed®, we ship out their specific order of plug trays, and the grower will then transplant the plugs to grow into the finished product.

Plug Sizes and Varieties

Looking for a particular size? Plugs are available in 128, 288, 324 and 512 trays. Depending upon the variety, there are four or five trays per case.
