Dormant Hydrangea Ordering Time (Video)

“Don’t be intimidated by dormant hydrangeas because they are something new. They are exploding in popularity too fast for you to miss out!” says Matthew Dynakowski, Supply Manager for Ball Seed Co. Dormant hydrangeas arrive ready to flower for Easter or Mother’s Day after 10-12 weeks of forcing only.

Blue and pink hydrangea blooms

To ensure the best availability, it’s best to order a year in advance. Why? A smaller-sized dormant plant will take at least 12-15 months to produce. Larger-sized plants may be two or more years old.

Our top picks include Early Blue and Early Rosa, as well as Jip Blue and Jip Pink. Although the core colors have always been pink and blue, there are other interesting shades to attract customers when it comes to hydrangea. We recommend the best white-flowered hydrangea, Ice Boy, which is a Ball Seed Exclusive.

Check out this video, featuring the Hydrangea Francy series with star-shaped flowers, as well as Ice Boy White.

All of the dormant plants ship from suppliers in Ontario, Canada. Order now through WebTrack, or contact your Ball Seed sales rep or Ball ColorLink associate at 800 879-BALL for assistance and availability.
