For 2023, Ball FloraPlant and Selecta One have redesigned their layout display in The Gardens at Ball. Let’s explore how these changes will positively impact the way you experience this year’s showcase!
Designed With You in Mind
Customer feedback is always a top priority at Ball and after much insight, the plan was to make things more simplistic for everyone. In previous years, Ball FloraPlant and Selecta One each had a distinct branding separation between their two displays. However, this year things will look a little different.
“Many of our products are now organized by customer application, rather than breeding company,” Marketing manager for Ball FloraPlant and Selecta One, Stephanie Vincenti said. “Sales reps and greenhouse customers said they learn about new plants better when it’s based on the variety rather than who the breeding company is."
Now Ball FloraPlant and Selecta One have a section for just new introductions that visitors can explore. Lantana PassionFruit is one of the new Ball FloraPlant varieties that you definitely must see during your visit.
“New BFP and Selecta products for 2024 are placed in an entire section just for those varieties,” Vincenti said. “And new varieties will still be tagged and scattered all throughout the display.”
Planning Process
As you would expect, there is always a plan in place to get the plants, tools and equipment needed to make this event go smoothly. There are several team members involved in planning to make this all work together.
“The grow list was prepped and sent all the way back in October,” Vincenti said about this year’s Customer Days design layout. “The greenhouse team orders the materials once I send the final grow list. Then they grow and finish the plants, timing them just right for Customer Days.”
The Ball Grounds team members help with more hardscape duties.
“They get all the benches in place and provide hanging basket structures and any additional items we may need, which is a huge help to us!” Vincenti said. Then, it is time to place the plants.
“Once the hardscape is in place and the plants are grown, I coordinate placement and signage,” Vincenti said.

You Won't Want to Miss This
Great news! Dianthus is being presented at this year’s Selecta One display to showcase a skyrocketing class of plants with many grower opportunities – indoor, potted, landscape and more!
“This year there’s a whole dianthus landscape bed,” Vincenti said. “Before, we would have never put this big of a push in the gardens because we didn’t have the ability to back it up.” With the USDA clearance of the Selecta One farm in Kenya, there is ready supply to expand your market, and has allowed Selecta One to show off these amazing flowers.
